Hydro Schemes

SJB Construction now include the construction of Hydro Schemes in their scope of works.

Two recent examples are :

  • The Harlaw Hydro Scheme. This was a 65kW hydro scheme that will take water from the dam’s penstocks (reservoir dam outflows) at Harlaw Reservoir returning flow to the dam discharge channel prior to it forming Bavelaw Burn. The scheme will generate approximately 260,000kWh (units) of green electricity per year –enough for approximately 56 average houses – saving 129 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year.
  •  75.8kW Udston SR in Hamilton. Construction of hydropower generation at Udston Service Reservoir is utilising the treated water flows to the reservoir and is apart of Scottish Water’s Hydro Generation Design and Build programme.
